Our Story
Gringo Killer is an alternative artisan hot sauce company, established in 2003.
Did you know Gringo Killer is the Peruvian nickname for the Rocoto chilli? They claimed it was so hot that the foreigners couldn't handle its heat... But of course, we like to give it a go!
Our sauces are primarily suited to the seasoned chilli hot heads but we also have some tamer sauces like the "Tequila & lime" and "Twisted Thai" varieties for every day meals.
Using all natural ingredients and locally grown spray free chillies we continue to develop our sauce range focussing on good ethics, fair business and most importantly fun!
We see a real connection between art and food. The animal artwork on our labels was specially commissioned for us by Russian illustrator Elena Polina. The animals were selected to bring to life the heat characteristics of our sauce range - from the harmless Chuihuahua, to the Tijuana donkey and all the way up to the Jaguar.
Gringo Killer is now under new ownership. After a shake of the hand and a couple of photos for life recording purposes, Gringo Killer sauces are now Wellington based. Rich Finlayson has headed overseas and has passed the secret recipe book across. We wish Rich all the best!
For all our loyal customers - don't expect anything to change, sauces are still going to be hot, hot, hot!
(although you just might see a couple of limited edition sauces hit the website)
